wedding video frequently asked questions

These are some of the most frequently asked questions, but if there is anything that you would like to know please feel free to contact us and we'll be here to help you.

"What is the IOV and what does it mean to be a 'qualified Master Member' of the IOV?"

The IOV stands for 'The Institute of Videography', which is a top-level regulatory body for companies and individuals who produce video. You can be a member of the IOV without any credentials but to be a 'qualified master member Member' you must undergo a stringent qualifying process attaining over a 70% pass.

"What quality will my final video be?"

We film all of our weddings in HD with the Sony Z1 camera giving excellent picture quality especially in low light conditions. We don't use bright lights unless we really have to meaning we won't interfere with your atmosphere. Also attached is a multi channel audio input allowing us to use various types of microphones to suit any situation, providing you with a perfect audio recording. The post production phase is done on Apple Final cut pro G5 editing suites, we edit in SD unless you specifically ask us to edit in HD. We send you a proof (demo) DVD of the edit and you have the opportunity to change things if we are able to. We offer 5 free minor changes and what we consider to me major changes are chargeable. Your final 10 free copes are presented in stylish packaging as described below.

"why do you always film a wedding with two camera operators?"

There are to main reasons why you should choose a videographer that films with two camera operators. Firstly, even though our cameras are very well maintained, we would not want to risk something going wrong with one camera especially during those very moments that can never be repeated - like the vows and the speeches. Things can happen so quickly on your wedding day that having two camera operators ensures that we will be able to capture those moments that may be unexpected and the likelihood of having one of those camera operators in the right place at the right time would be higher than just having one camera operator. Secondly, having that extra angle means that you get a variety of moving images which will give you a very cinematic result and keep your video interesting to watch all in real time, as they are happening. The only way to get the same result with one camera or one camera operator is if cut-a way's are taken from a different moment. We also keep a third camera close at hand just in case the worst should happen with one camera or if we feel that there is a situation where it needs to be used - at no extra charge. We are very passionate about ensuring that your film will look good and we will go to extreme lengths to ensure that it does.

"Can I speak with your previous clients?"

All our clients have been so happy with our product and service that they have agreed to be references for us. You can read their comments on our website and we can put you in touch with them personally if you prefer. Incidentally, all of the images and video footage on this site and in our marketing are real clients.

"Do you cover overseas weddings?"

Just because you're getting married abroad, doesn't mean you can't have your trusty local videographer film your wedding too. After putting all the effort in organising your day in such a special place, it would be a shame not to get an official recording made by someone whom you can have close contact with afterwards. Satin Weddings delights in filming international weddings. We have previously filmed in Scotland, Germany, Italy, and Australia. We charge no extra fees aside from basic expenses (travel and accommodation).

"Do you cover civil partnership weddings?"

Yes, we cover all events, please contact us for a video sample.
